I seem to be running out of memory. This is the exact error message:

Couldn't get a free page.
Out or memory VFS: can not open root device 08:82
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:82

It is my understanding that Linux should work with just 4MB of RAM. Am I
wrong? Do I need to be running a memory manager?
