Hello Dear Friends:

I know some of you don't seem to care when Microsoft lies cheats and steals
(you know who you are) however it is my belief that most 'family values'
'right thinking' folks do object to Microsoft's deliberate purchase of
their elected officials voice in international affairs.

You see, although you voted these 'representitives' into office, they are
oblidged to speak for the groups that (bribed them) gave them election
contributions.

I really dispair for my American cousins the total corruption of their
political system.

I truly hope you guys clean house a bit during yout next election. I used to
consider myself a Republican (Conservative) but watching with horror the
brief reign of Bush and the total corruption of the Republican Party has
really turned me around.

Only you guys can do anything about this state of affairs.

It is almost as if The Republican Party is just the political arm of
Microsoft - they both have the same moral and ethical standards.

Best regards,

Brian

Brian,

Did you just recently wake up and discover that the American system is in
serious trouble?

I guess it is just a matter of degree.

It seems to have radically changed in the last 6 years - from my 'Canadian'
perspective.

The end of the cold war has allowed the empire-minded in the US to gain
control. Recall that it wasn't long after the Berlin Wall came down before
Bush I was announcing the new world order:

Will study the matter.

What corrective action is possible, from your perspective?

Brian,

My current opinion is that the two-party oligarchy has become so entrenched
in the US that only a truely major crisis, resulting in a reorganization
(possibly balkanization) of the US will shake things up enough for
corrective action. I like to think that pressure will move us in the right
direction, and I try to do my little part: www.zanethomas.com, but I'm not
terribly optimistic given the way the government here is manipulating public
opinion.

Truly frightening...

I have three years left until early retirement - I am making arrangements to
live in Costa Rica. There are large ex-pat communities of Yanks, Canucks,
Ausies, KiWis, Brits, you name it. It's warm, the Pacific fishing is great,
the people are wonderful AND there is high speed 'Net connections.

I will continue my Linux evangelizing but my activities will be mostly
passive after I retire - I have already carved my mark in Microsoft's hide,
I am satisfied.

I reserve the right to continue to boast about my community and scowl with
contempt at the Great Satan of Redmond.
